This is the bedroom of Mauricio Braun and Josefina Menendez, where some of their children were born, and was a testimony of the intimate family life from 1904 until 1918, the date in which they ceased to use Punta Arenas, as their normal home.
The furniture of French walnut was made in 1900 after the style of Louis XV. The wall paper of imitation brocade, the marble fireplace, the golden mirror and the spacious sitting areas in the bay window, give this room the aspect of an elegant lounge, which becomes domestic and familiar with the children’s portraits, dressing table items and embroidery work.
Together with the bedroom, the bathroom with its pink and white ceramic tiles shows the comfort that was arriving from Europe and being adapted to the harsh Magallanic environment.
